I am so grateful for the rain that has washed over the west coast. These fires have been devastating to many and sending love to the firefighters who are risking their lives to save lives and homes.

I hope you are enjoying your long weekend, however, you are spending it. Th@nksgiving is a complex holiday, made official by Abraham Lincoln during the American civil war, feeling we needed to come together as a nation and remember what is important.

Certainly, we are in a parallel universe now as we are so divided. We are not fighting to end slavery, but we are fighting to end ignorance, bigotry, hatred, white supremacy, homophobia, transphobia and gun violence among many other things.

Th@anksgiving is deeply problematic with its romantic notions that have been promoted and perpetuated by the American school system. The idea that the pilgrims sat down for a peaceful dinner with American Indians is a complete farce and deeply problematic in the way this false tale eclipsed the genocide of over 700,000 Native Americans.

Last year I hosted my friend and colleague Angel Adeyoha for a class about these truths behind Th@anksgiving: “No Thanks, No Giving.”

This year Angel could not teach it live again, and wanted to offer people the private link to watch last year’s class FREE so we can begin to create more consciousness about the things that are so problematic and difficult about this holiday.

On a totally different note…
